Senior Partnership Program

Senior Transportation
The City provides subsidized bus rides to seniors through the Senior Transportation connection. To enroll in the program and register for rides, phone the Senior Transportation Connection at (216) 265-1489, or learn more at the Senior Transportation Connection website.
Meals on Wheels
Meals on Wheels, an international organization focused on delivering meals and friendship to those with decreased mobility, operates locally in the Shaker Heights, University Heights, Shaker Square, and Beachwood area. Learn more at our local Meals on Wheels’ website.
Homestead Tax Exemption
Cuyahoga County offers the Homestead Exemption to senior citizens age 65 and older to lower real estate taxes. To learn more about the program, go to the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Office website, or contact the Cuyahoga County Fiscal Office directly at (216) 443-7400.
Home Energy Assistance
The Ohio Development Services Agency offers 2 programs to help senior citizens with energy assistance. The Heat Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) is a one-time annual benefit that is applied to your primary heating source account. The Home Energy Assistance Summer Crisis Program (SCP) offers a one-time annual benefit for cooling assistance. You must apply in person at the Council for Economic Opportunities in Greater Cleveland (216) 696-9077 or Cleveland Housing Network (216) 574-7100. Better Business Bureau Senior Awareness Initiative
The Better Business Bureau has an online Senior Awareness Outreach Program resource center where all previous senior alerts and reported scams are archived, seniors can sign up for alerts, and have access to BBB reports on companies and charities. Citizens Advisory Committee on Aging
Residents are invited to take advantage of the opportunity to serve on a variety of boards, commissions and committees, such as the Citizens Advisory Committee on Aging, that advise and assist in setting policy.
