Walter Stinson Community Park (a.k.a. The Walt) was opened on July 24, 2016. The park was built on the site of the former Northwood Elementary School and named for longtime resident Walter J. Stinson, who served as the city’s community coordinator and senior services manager for many years. The centrally located park provides ample green space for both active and passive recreation.
