The Mission of the University Heights Police Department is to deliver superior and ethical services with professionalism, respect, integrity, dedication and excellence, by working as guardians in partnership with our community to enhance their quality of life, deter crime, preserve peace, and to enforce the law in the City of University Heights
Meet Your Officers
The City of University Heights is a 2 square mile suburb, 20 minutes East of Downtown Cleveland. Current police operations are manned by 30 sworn Full-Time Officers and 2 civilian Administrative Assistants.
The Patrol Division Officers work the day in, day out calls for service day or night. These officers are here for you 365/24/7 and are the ones who would respond when you call us for help or for assistance.
Our Detective Bureau is managed by the Detective-Sergeant and 3 Detectives. If your incident needs further investigation, it will be handed over to the Det-Sgt for review and designated to one of the 3 detectives for on-going investigations.
Officer assignments include Patrol, Investigations, Bike Unit, Instructors, Field Training, Community Policing, Juvenile Diversion, and Community Policing. The University Heights Police Department is part of EDGE that operates the following teams: SWAT, Bomb Squad, Crisis Negotiations, Accident Reconstruction, and Mobile Field Force.
The Police Auxiliary Unit currently has 7 member that are called upon frequently to assist the police department’s daily operations when needed during power outages, to direct traffic, to assist with Parades or Concerts, and any other related duties needed.
