The Ashurst Rain Garden started in 2010 after the residents of Ashurst Road and the City collaborated to create a neighborhood pocket park. The rain garden received funding a $10,000 Northeast Ohio Regional Sewer District (NEORD) grant. The rain garden features a wood-chip walkway, stone water channel, and multiple types of foliage. The purpose of the rain garden to to help with stormwater management by allowing rainwater runoff from impervious surfaces, like driveways, roofs, and compacted lawns, to soak into the ground, helping to reduce erosion, flooding, and water pollution.
