A Message from the Mayor
Welcome to the City of University Heights!?>
Mayor Susan K. Infeld |
Known
as the "City of Beautiful Homes," University Heights is home
to John Carroll University, a nationally-recognized Jesuit
university. Our location gives us quick access to public
transportation and we are only a short drive to University
Circle, downtown and the Metroparks.
We are a walkable community with pleasant
small-town features such as:
neighborhood block parties; the Memorial Day parade
(approaching its 50th anniversary); a great outdoor pool and
park; recreation programs such as tennis leagues for
children and adults, and free arts & crafts programs for
children; summertime outdoor band concerts
with free ice cream; and complimentary
lectures offered to the community by distinguished professors at
John Carroll University. |
Besides the recreation programming available
at our municipal pool and park, University Heights has a
shared recreation arrangement with the City of Shaker
Heights for ice skating at Thornton Park, and with the
cities of South Euclid and Lyndhurst for community service
programming such as jazzercise, cooking classes and home
repair classes.
We have easy access to a multitude of school
choices, all within walking distance, including private prep
schools, blue-ribbon award winning parochial schools, and a
public school system nationally known for musical
excellence.
In short, University Heights is a great place
to live and raise a family. Please get to know our community
and immerse yourself in what makes University Heights
unique. Take some
time to shop at Whole Foods, Macy?s and any of our other 85
businesses. Refresh
yourself on a hot day with a swim in the pool at Purvis
Park. Feed your
intellectual curiosity and absorb the climate of knowledge
while walking the campus of John Carroll University.
Enjoy the
architecture of our beautiful homes as you walk along our
tree-lined streets. You
will soon see what those of us who live here have come to
know as a wonderful community.
Welcome to our town!
Regards,
