One Community Coordinator with secretarial backup in Administrative Department
Activities of the Department
Write and/or prepare for publication the city’s monthly Information Bulletin, the city’s Summer Recreation Schedule, the city’s Annual Report, and awardees profiles for the city’s Annual Civic Awards program.
With assistance from Office of City Engineer, prepare the city’s annual application for block grant funding for infrastructure improvements.
Assist residents in preparing for and scheduling the summer block parties.
Contract with the various performing groups and schedule the 12 summer band concerts at Wiley Middle School.
Plan the monthly meetings for the Senior Adult Drop-In Network at the U.H. Public Library, and on occasion, in behalf of a senior adult inadvertently abused or neglected, work with County’s Adult Protective Services to remedy the situation. Also, plan the city’s annual flu shot program for senior citizens.
Represent the City of University Heights to the Senior Transportation Connection of Cuyahoga County, the TC3 Senior Van service, the Heights Regional Chamber of commerce, the Community Liaison Panel at John Carroll University, the CH-UH PTA Council Executive Board.
Produce the city’s cable TV program, “University Heights Today”, 6 editions annually, each running 2 months on Sundays on the public access Channel 21, scheduling appointments for cinematographer, to tape guests and events.
Process the surveys returned by new homeowners and other residents arranging point-of-sale housing inspections.
Assist residents in applying for block grant funds in the Exterior Housing Maintenance Program which this year has been replaced with program to assist the city in restoring to marketable condition the vacant, abandoned, foreclosed houses.
Overall, serve as ombudsman to provide information for residents and work to resolve the occasional neighbor issue.
