Department Makeup
Seven Council members, who are elected at-large by the people in a non-partisan election, is the legislative authority of the City.
One Clerk of Council serves as Clerk of the Council and secretary to the Planning Commission, Civil Service Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, and Records Retention Commission.
Activities of the Department (Clerk of Council)
Attends all regular and special meetings of the City Council, Planning Commission, Civic Service Commission and Records Retention Commission.
Transcribes the minutes of the Council and each board or commission and maintains the records of the Council and each board or commission of which she is secretary.
Authenticates all records, ordinances and contracts of the City.
Serves public notice as required by law of meetings, legislation, and bid procedures.
City Hall liaison between residents and Council members.
Examines warrants and disbursement checks as approved by the Finance Director and countersigns same.
Assists the Civil Service Commission in making arrangements for and administering the civil service examinations for positions within the Police and Fire Departments.
Monitors the City’s email accounts and emails informational notices to residents.
